Abstract
This article aims to analyze the current state of electronic payment methods in Algeria and identify the challenges facing this sector. It provides a comprehensive overview of the various electronic payment channels, trends, and developments, emphasizing the need for improvements to enhance the use of these methods.
The study concludes that there is a continuous evolution in the reliance on electronic payment methods in Algeria, as evidenced by the increasing popularity of circulating bank cards, which number around 23 million, of which 82% are classified as "gold cards" and 18% as "CIB." However, there are also some shortcomings that need to be addressed to strengthen this infrastructure. This can be achieved by enhancing high-speed internet coverage, especially in rural areas, developing the technical platforms of banks to ensure speed and security, facilitating the opening of bank accounts for all segments of society, and providing suitable payment solutions for smartphones and prepaid cards for the unbanked population.
