Abstract

This Research Paper Examines the Maritime Commodities in the Algerian Economy during the Ottoman Era, based on the Official Administrative Correspondences Preserved in the Algerian National Library. The Study Highlights how these Resources Formed a Strategic Pillar of the Local Economy by Securing Food, Supporting Internal and External Trade, and Linking Local Markets with Regional and International Markets via the Mediterranean Sea.

We also Highlight the Impact of Political Conditions on the Movement of Maritime Commodities; Periods of Peace were Characterized by Regular Trade and Stable Markets. In Contrast; Marine Conflicts and the Threat of Piracy during Times of War Necessitated Flexible Intervention by the Administration to Ensure the Continuity of Markets and the Protection of Resources, reflecting the Administration's Ability to Adapt to Economic and Political Circumstances.
