Abstract

This study falls within the field of future studies and prospective research, aiming to draw the attention of experts in the field of population and demography to the silent transformations currently underway, which are predicted to raise life expectancy to a high level in the future, This is attributable to efforts in the field of health and the search for appropriate treatments and medications for intractable diseases, known as “urbanization and aging,” where I anticipate an extension of human lifespan similar to what occurred in past centuries when epidemics were eradicated, and later when the treatment of poverty-related and endemic diseases was brought under control. This is because health research and health policies implemented across the globe are likely to lead to an extension of human life expectancy in the foreseeable future to nearly a century and, in the long term, even beyond that. In light of these developments, what will the demographic situation be, and what will the characteristics of future populations be? And what will be the implications of this for social, economic, demographic, and environmental aspects?
