Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Emotion Recognition: Exploring Their Role in Psychological and Social Research through a Cognitive Science Perspective and Examining the Ethical Implications
Main Article Content
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the landscape of psychological and social research by enabling deeper, faster, and more data-driven insights into human behavior and cognition. From natural language processing in sentiment analysis to predictive modeling in mental health, AI is emerging not just as a technological tool but as a co-investigator in the study of the human mind. This paper explores how AI technologies — including machine learning, neural networks, and emotion recognition systems — are reshaping methodologies in psychology and the social sciences. It further discusses the opportunities and challenges that arise from integrating AI into qualitative and quantitative research, including ethical concerns, data privacy, and the risk of algorithmic bias. By examining current applications and future directions, this study aims to highlight the transformative potential of AI in understanding complex psychological and social phenomena.
